“Welcome to PACSys at NAMPO Cape!” These were the excited words of Jeandré de Beer, Sales Manager, who clearly has a passion for his products.

Jordan Jeffree, Branch Manager of PACSys in Middelburg, explains that this company was founded by farmers for farmers. He mentions that the results of their products are excellent and that their sales are increasing drastically.

PACSys has been in the agricultural industry from the very beginning and was the very first company to start using drones for farming!

Drones

“Here we have the DJI Agras T50 aerial spraying drone. Farmers use it for spraying chemicals, spreading granular fertilisers, and distributing weed control granules,” says Jeandré.

This new model features a much larger radar compared to its predecessor, allowing it to detect and avoid obstacles much quicker. “Its binocular system is also significantly improved, now equipped with two pairs instead of only one,” he continues. “One major advantage is the pump system, which can now pump 16 litres per minute with two pumps.”

If you attach the extra nozzle, it can pump up to 24 litres per minute. “With this, we can cover anything between 15 and 20 hectares per hour.”

The machine is equipped with many sensors and lights, making it easy to use at night as well.

“Another upgraded feature is the larger spreading tank, which is used for spreading fertiliser and seeds. We can go up to 450 kg per hectare!” Seed size and droplet size can also be adjusted.

The battery system charges in only nine minutes! Once it is fully charged, the generator automatically shuts off. One battery lasts for approximately 2 000 hectares before you need to consider replacing it.

More than just a product

Jeandré says: “We do not only offer the product. We invest in our clients through training and after-sales service. Our main focus is to help farmers, even on the same day their problem arises. We have parts and technicians to get you back in the air as quickly as possible.

“After you receive the quote from me, I can have the drone on your farm within 72 hours. From there, we schedule the training, which is a four-day theoretical and practical course. The course is worth R20 000, but for you, it is completely free and included with the product.”
