Farmers are always looking for new equipment that will help them work more efficiently and is task-oriented to produce the best yield with the least hassle.

Rovic’s new Kuhn Eco Ranger 2000, which was launched in the Free State during Nampo 2024, meets the requirements for a hard-working farmer who requires the same high standard of equipment.

According to Mike Lombaard van Rovic, who introduced the modern, streamlined sprayer, only one model Kuhn Eco Ranger with a spray tank of 2,000 liters and a spray boom is imported.

He explains some of the features of the new sprayer, which is designed to achieve the best performance without difficulty.

The Eco Ranger sprayer, for example, is equipped with a ball-type drawbar that provides greater mobility even on uneven terrain.

Mike Lombard from Rovic launched the new Kuhn Eco Ranger 2000 sprayer at NAMPO in the Free State.

The sprayer is driven exclusively with the power take-off (PTO). The sprayer’s PTO system has its own internal hydraulic pump and there are no unnecessary pipes from the sprayer to the tractor. All work performance, such as the control of different sections, as well as the opening and closing of the boom, is handled from the control system in the cabin.

A ladder allows convenient access to the top of the sprayer for when you want to work on top of the tank, fill the hand wash tank, or rinse out the tank, boom or nozzles.

According to Mike, all the faucets are easily accessible. You can adjust the faucets if you want to tap water, or if you want to control sections separately from the faucets. The tank can be filled from an external source such as a farm pond by connecting a suction pipe to the main supply tap.

It is also easy to administer poison, as the poison tank is conveniently mounted on the left side of the syringe. It is also according to the hand washing faucet so you can wash your hands after mixing the poison.

A filter in front of the taps ensures that any impurity that enters the poison tank is led back to the tank through the filter.

The Eco Ranger’s wheels can be adjusted to suit the driving width by simply loosening the bolts and applying the adjustment, and “then you can get on with your work”, says Mike.

He believes that Kuhn “didn’t hold anything back when they designed the boom and its operation”.

The Eco Ranger sprayer is equipped with a ball-type drawbar, which results in greater mobility even on uneven terrain.

The boom can be adjusted hydraulically from the control system in the tractor’s cab. Not only is the height of the boom adjustable, but the left and right arms can also be opened and closed separately.

The boom is equipped with rubber shock absorbers. The springs control the horizontal plane, and if you suddenly need to slow down or stop in the country, the rubber shock absorbers absorb the forward movement of the boom.

“This naturally extends the life of the boom,” explains Mike.

The epoxy beam is 18 meters long, yet extremely stable. Kuhn added several features to the beam to ensure just that. Among these features are the hydraulic opening and closing action it offers, as well as the hydraulic vertical height adjustment and vertical folding action.

The hydraulic beam control is advanced technology that makes this machine suitable for farmers with an eye on tomorrow. The beams also have an automatic locking action that keeps them safe when the machine needs to be moved around.

According to Mike, each of the four sections has its own dedicated filter that ensures optimum performance. Furthermore, each of the equipped two-way nozzles is specially designed with an anti-drip to prevent any wastage. There are also two containers for nozzles if the farmer wants to apply insecticide and pesticide at the same time. “It’s easy to change to adapt to the work you want to do.”

The spray bar consists of four sections and has four different filters.

The boom control valves are rear-mounted. With the boom lowered, the control valves are easily accessible. The spray pressure gauge is conveniently mounted next to it so you can see at a glance what change the adjustment brings about.

The polyethene tank has a capacity of 2000 litres. Furthermore, it can pump at a whopping 120 litres/minute at 20 bar. The electric controls make this machine easy for anyone to understand and use.
