Members of the Oostelike Ile de France club know why they choose this superior meat breed over and over. They choose it for its exceptional growth, fertility, and how easily it cross-breeds. It is also the breed of choice for slaughter lamb production.
The club strives to continuously improve the quality of the breed and uphold the standards that is expected from an Ile de France sheep.
Members brought their animals to the auction that was held in Standerton on 7 September 2022.
The successful action saw the top ram sell for R 50 000. The average prices for rams were R 17 400, and the average for stud ewes were R 8 500. Commercial ewes averaged at R 6 700.
Jan Mostert from BKB was the auctioneer.
