The past year AGCO Fendt’s products in the north of the country performed excellently, but now Frans Cronjé, Sales Manager of AGCO Fendt South Africa, says that they are ready to tackle the Western Cape as well.
At NAMPO Cape they displayed their AGCO Fendt products in the Western Cape for the first time.
“The question on everybody’s lips is … what does Fendt do in the Western Cape? We are expanding to the Western Cape. We look at opportunities in the Western Cape and we want to establish a network of traders in the Western Cape,” Frans added.
At NAMPO Cape they showed some of their machines, and the farmers were very impressed:
Orchard tractor
Some of the smallest tractors displayed by AGCO was their Fendt 209v Vario orchard tractor.
The tractor is 900 mm wide, but in the small tractor is a very powerful 63 kW engine. It is a high specification tractor with all the advantages of a Fendt 1050, only on a smaller scale.
“Other desirable features of the tractor are its low-revving engine, direct PTO drive and enough hydraulics to connect all kinds of tree shakers and spreaders and funny things,” explains Frans.
The orchard tractor is the smallest tractor available and has been developed specifically for vineyard farmers.
Fendt 720 Vario Gen 7
According to Frans, this tractor is suitable for any job. It is versatile and its 150 kW is great for tasks such as spraying potatoes and spreading fertiliser.
“It has a nice hydraulic flow with a three-point lift that easily handles heavy implements,” says Frans.
Fendt 936 Vario Gen 6
The Fendt 936 Vario Gen 6 is a 268 kW tractor with a hydraulic flow of 430 litres per minute. It is enough to handle any implement, and it also has the Vario Drive system which is also found in the 1050 and which makes working with it a pure pleasure. It is a powerful, short, compact tractor that transmits its power 100% efficiently to the ground.
“This tractor is perfect for soil cultivation and the type of applications that are popular in the Western Cape,” explains Frans.
Fendt 1050 Vario
For farmers looking for something bigger and stronger, Fendt offers the 1050 Vario tractor. This 380 kW tractor is the world’s largest fixed-frame tractor. The Vario Drive refers to the tractor being able to determine which wheels need the most power at which stage and then provide it to those wheels.
The 1050 Vario is also a short tractor with a very small turning circle.
“This is the big brother – if you really want to do soil cultivation or drag wide planters, this is your answer,” adds Frans.
Fendt also offers a factory guarantee of 5 years or 5 000 hour on their tractors.
Fendt Ideal-harvester
Frans is very proud of the Fendt Ideal harvester and calls it his ‘Black Beauty’.
He says that the harvester is already performing very well in the rest of the country and that it promises to become popular in the Overberg, because it masters the slopes with ease.
The harvester is manufactured with a parallel levelling system to harvest easily and effectively on slopes of 16°.
“When you do not allow for the slopes, all your grain moves to one side of the screen , causing excessive wastage. This harvester keeps it parallel so you do not have the waste,” explains Frans.
Fendt is ready to serve the Western Cape farmers with implements made for their particular farming conditions.
