“We are a family business from Ermelo. We build equipment that we need. Only a farmer knows what a farmer needs,” says Jannie Myburgh, Director of Myburgh Toerusting.

Myburgh Toerusting likes to keep things interesting. This is why they launch a new product every year at NAMPO. On the metaphorical red carpet at NAMPO 2024, was their road grader.

In South Africa, unusable roads are the norm. With that, of course, comes a whole lot of frustrations, ruined tyres and maybe even a strong word or two! Farmers have to step in and maintain their roads themselves, and Myburgh Toerusting has built the right machine for them.

This road grader is the definition of simple and has no issues. It has no hydraulics to make it as easy as possible for the user. “One of the big challenges we have seen with graders is that our operators struggle to use them, because there are so many adjustments, and they are not trained for that.”

The road grader is designed in such a way that it has very few adjustments. It is as easy as hitch and drive! Since the road grader has fewer moving parts, the wear and tear is also less and it only needs a 100-kW tractor. Since the road grader is so compact, it fits on a bakkie trailer, and is therefore also rented out by Myburgh Toerusting.

“All of us have the same problem: our roads are unusable. Most of us cannot justify buying a road grader. What we have done, is build one that is simple and affordable. We managed to make a cheaper road grader, so that all farmers can afford to grade their own roads.”

Jannie Myburgh and Stefan Davel place their focus on what a farmer needs.

Jannie explains how they managed to make their machine as cheap as possible: “We removed all the hydraulics. So, you end up with a road grader with a welded blade. We put two seven-foot blades on, so that you have a nice big grader.”

He further explains that there are two depth control wheels with which you can adjust the angle of the blade. “It is so easy to use, your worker cannot make a mistake or damage your road.”

This is how Myburgh Toerusting does it – without hassle. Jannie sums it up: “Simple, durable, just as all our other products.”
