Creating the perfect seedbed is not merely about mixing the soil. The right moisture retention and aeration also play a crucial part. Väderstad’s Carrier XT 425 to 625 and Carrier XL 625 foldable disc cultivators not only get the job done, but perfectly prepares your seedbed for planting.
The Carrier range is used for high-speed primary tilling and seedbed preparation. It is designed to handle any challenge, from ultra-shallow cultivation to deeper cultivation. The Väderstad Carrier range saves on passes, decreases your machine costs per hectare and provides you with the best seedbed for the coming season.
The discs on these cultivators are placed in an x-shape to ensure a straight line.
Multi-tasking made easy
The Carrier was first launched in 1999, and over the years this disc cultivator has only improved. Today it is the perfect multi-tasking implement for any famer. These Carriers can be used for stubble cultivation, incorporation, seedbed preparation, small-seed drilling and pest prevention.
With the emphasis on the disc designs these cultivators can till from shallow 20 to 30 mm up to 160 mm.
One disc, one arm
Each disc is individually mounted on a rubber suspended disc arm. This increases penetration capability and improves the ability to follow the ground contour, while the spacious design ensures a good throughflow of soil and crop residues.
The Väderstad TrueCut is a unique method for milling the cut-outs of the discs. It gives perfectly even wear of the disc diameter, maintaining the original disc shape. TrueCut maintains the grip, soil penetration and aggressiveness throughout the discs’ working life.
The Väderstad Carrier XT 425 to 625
The Carrier XT range creates optimal conditions for decomposition of plant residues and seed germination, thereby reducing the use of herbicides and getting rid of unwanted weeds.
The Carrier XT’s shallow disc tillage places leftover seeds at a germination depth and creates a fine till for seed water transport. Fine tilling also multiplies residue soil contact which assists with the decomposition of crop residue.
It is available in the 4,25, 5,25 and 6,25 metre working widths with 450 or 470 mm discs, renowned for their excellent contour following and impressive penetration ability.
Disc performance is all about the angles
Väderstad discs are made from Swedish steel and comes with a lifetime manufacturing warranty. These discs are made from V55 steel designed to maximise their durability. While industry-standard steel has a hardness (HRC) of between 47 and 48, Väderstad discs have an HRC of 55, providing greater wear resistance and longevity while maintaining shock resistance.
The key to Väderstad’s success is the use of their conical discs. Where a spherical disc creates a rough till, inverts the residue and lifts stones to the top, the conical disc creates a fine till, mixing the residue and pushing the stones to the bottom.
Built to last
The Väderstad Carrier XT range is built to last; it boasts a heavy-duty frame, discs that are designed to protect the hubs and bearings, and has rubber suspended discs and packers.
The Väderstad Carrier XL 425 to 725
While the Carrier XT range is a little smaller and better for shallow tilling, the Carrier XL range is heavier, has larger discs and is a bit bigger, making it a good choice for a more aggressive and deeper till, or a larger field.
This disc cultivator comes in working widths of 4,25 to 7,25 metres and can be fitted with 510 to 610 mm discs. The Carrier XL also has adjustable disc angles.
