T6.180 MP

Methane gas emissions are not an environmental problem; in fact, they offer an eco-friendly fuel solution. The introduction of New Holland’s T6.180 methane gas tractor at NAMPO turned heads and caused a stir in the agricultural industry.

Jaco du Preez, Marketing Manager of New Holland, says the tractor may not be for every farmer, but it is ideal for dairy farmers, feedlots, or even pig farms. A farmer can produce the fuel himself!

Jaco says: “Generating methane gas is a unique process, but we have people who can assist you with it.”

The tractor’s engine is adapted to run on methane gas. It has a total of 455-litre methane gas tanks, allowing it to work all day unless it is very hard work like ploughing, in which case it will work for about five hours, Jaco explains.

“The rest of the tractor’s specifications are exactly the same as the other tractors in the T6000 series, with the same kW and torque, so you do not lose anything by using the tractor.”

What you gain is about a 30% saving on operating costs and virtually no CO2 emissions. New Holland believes that technological development should not only be about better performance but also about sustainability in terms of eco-friendly solutions.

T7.315 HD

Another standout tractor in the New Holland exhibition was the T7.315 HD with its striking metallic blue colour, shiny aluminium grille, and luxurious leather interior.

The machine is rated as Tier five on the environmental friendliness scale. Jaco says: “The specifications meet Europe’s requirements. It is a greener machine with lower fuel consumption, fewer emissions, PLM intelligence in the cabin, front and cab suspension, a fully automatic steering system, and telematics that can be monitored from the IntelliCentre. This means critical aspects such as overheating can be monitored, and we can alert you if action is needed so you can act proactively and save costs.”

The T7.315 has an AutoCommand CVT transmission that works as smoothly as an automatic gearbox, 220 litres of hydraulic flow with enhanced lifting capacity, and a four-speed power take-off.

The unit uses the ECOBlue™ HI-eSCR 2 system (echo Selective Catalytic Reduction) to reduce emissions. This after-treatment system is a maintenance-free, patented solution that minimises operating costs.

The layout in the cabin with the Intelliview™ 12” screen and SideWinder™ Ultra is similar to the T8 and T9 series for uniformity.

Jaco says: “The tractor is fully equipped for any application on the farm.”
