The 16th of October is a date set by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations as World Food Day. MOWCS, as one of the organisations that have food security as their pillar, always commemorate World Food Day, this year the organisation will host a seminar on the 21st of October 2022 at one of their production farms in Bloemfontein, Free State, Said the CEO.
The purpose of the seminar is to showcase more than 100 beneficiaries that have been enrolled to be trained in agriculture through the AgriSeta qualification, furthermore MOWCS will ensure that the beneficiaries are entrepreneurs by the time they exit their system. This will not be single handled by MOWCS but through collaborating with all stakeholders involved. It is our vision as an organisation that at the end of the programme these unemployed youth be registered into different cooperatives, are given land to continue farming on and assist them with the market to buy their products. MOWCS will be their first market where we will ensure we buy their products for our 181 community kitchens, Said Nelisa.
Time for having endless talks about youth empowerment, high rate of unemployment and inequality in our has come to an end, it is now time to act and be serious about the change that we want to see. We are pleased that we will have our strategic partners in this fight, Dept of Social Development National and Provincial, Office of the Premier in the Free State, Capitec Bank Limited, PepsiCo, CUT, VUT, our donors and members of our Board, as part of this seminar, said the CEO.
This is one event that sets us apart as an organisation as demonstrates how serious we are about Empowerment through Skills Development. It is our goal as an organisation that by this time next year, we showcase the progress in all these cooperatives that we will launched on the 21st of October 2022. The success of this projects requires a joint effort by all stakeholders required in the value chain, concluded Nelisa.
