If you want a happy farmer, give him nice loose soil, ready for planting. Unfortunately, nature cannot be controlled, but Rovic’s Super 25 ripper is an excellent second prize.
This machine’s big launch was at NAMPO this year.
The Super 25 ripper’s hydraulic breakout cylinders are like something out of a dream. “The system has been tested for a long time and has proven itself well,” says JP Venter, Area Manager at Rovic. “The advantage with the cylinders compared to the conventional leaf spring breakaway action is that you can exert a much heavier force on your tine.”
JP further explains that you can apply between 80 and 120 bar pressure to each cylinder.
Apart from the fact that this machine is incredibly strong, the entry angle of the tine remains constant. “This means that your tractor pulls a lighter weight, and you will save fuel.
“The other advantage is that the score tip at the bottom of the tine wears more slowly because it is continuously working at the right angle.” This way you get a much longer life from your scores.
With the heavier breaking action of the hydraulic cylinders, a wider blade can now also be mounted on the tool. The effect of this is that the soil between the tines is broken up much better.
The breaking action of a leaf spring is approximately 1 800 kg. With the hydraulic cylinders at 80 bar pressure, the breakaway action is 1 850 kg and at 120 bar it is 2 600 kg. “So, it just shows you that in difficult circumstances this tine is still going to stay in the ground and can do its job.”
Rovic has these hydraulic cylinders available from their smallest gear tool up to the Super 32.
