Carrots
Monthly average prices show a decrease in monthly carrot prices, supported by increases in volumes supplied. This trend is expected to persist into December and January, as historical trends show consumer demand to remain strong at the start of the new year.
Onions
The onion market has recovered from a mid-year oversupply that led to price pressures for the last two months. Analysts note that average market price trends will see a rise owing to the projected peak quantities from the Northern Cape region, in December.
Potatoes
Potato prices have calmed down from their highest point this year, with the potato harvest season reaching its peak volumes. Average prices are expected to trend sideways with analysts expecting to see slight declines in prices in January.
Tomato
Average tomato prices were noted to be higher at the end of November, due to slight declines in average volumes supplied. This was also supported by stronger consumer demand. Analysts anticipate average prices to remain elevated in December.
