Water is life and the sensible way to apply water is with a Senter 360 pivot.

Many wise irrigation farmers count on Senter 360’s Center pivots to achieve predictable good harvests, and no wonder, because Senter’s aim is: Quality you can count on at a price you can afford.

Theuns Dreyer, Managing Director of Senter 360, says: “We are a private company that has a unique niche market in the irrigation industry. We are trying to really expand our niche in terms of excellent quality, innovative products at a very affordable price.

Senter 360 is still proudly South African and has a loyal brand following among irrigation farmers, but new ways are constantly being explored to serve farmers even better.

“We like to listen to our customers and that is why product innovation in the business is also extremely important. Everything we do, from the tires, to the sprinkler packages to smaller aspects that we look at, must be in the interest of our farmers and customers,” says Theuns.

Theuns highlights the unique features of Senter 360’s center pivots

“With the help of our tire manufacturers, we have designed a custom-made tire, which leaves two-thirds less wheel tracks than a standard tractor tire in the same conditions.

These tires have been developed after intensive research into tire technology focussed on the use on center pivots. It is completely different to tractor tires and the design has been specially developed for the wet conditions under a center pivot. Although the tires look similar to tractor tires on the outside, the construction is different.”

He adds: “The well-balanced structure of our center pivot spans, which are made of pipe versus angle iron on other brands, gives us a weight advantage with a lighter span, but a lot more support along the length of the span. So, the strength comes from the extra bracing in combination with less weight contributing to a stronger structure.”

“Sometimes, when center pivot spans are exposed to wind, it starts swaying because the flat surfaces of the angle iron used, have wind resistance. The advantage of our pipe structure is that the wind does not get hold of it. The center pivot spans might be pushed a little to the side, but it remains standing where an angle iron pivot point may be blown over in the same conditions.

“We do not put any entry-level sprinkler packages on our center pivots at all. All Senter360 center pivots are equipped with sprinklers we have evaluated over the years to offer only the best to the farmer: A wide band width, engineered constant droplet sizes resulting in lower evaporation, even water distribution patterns resulting in better penetration into the soil and less of a runoff which therefore leads to less water in the wheel tracks.”

Theuns says that he is also very proud of the pivots’ automation where the electronics are divided into modules to spread the risk, resulting in better reliability as well as cheaper maintenance in the long run, benefitting the farmer.”
