Soutpansberg Bonsmara was registered in 2009 after the focus shifted from Afrikaners and Simmentalers to the Bonsmara breed since 2006. Bonsmaras are strongly bred to not only survive, but also perform commercially and as breeding animals.
Their hardiness and adaptability have established them as South Africa’s largest breed. Strict selection ensures that any bull that does not meet the standards is culled.
