Marco Leying, Sales Manager for Krone in South Africa, launched the manufacturer’s Varipack baler during Grain SA NAMPO 2024 at Bothaville in the Free State.

According to Marco, the Varipack V165 baler is the cream of the crop of Krone’s round baler for dry material. Krone also has chain and rod balers, but the focus at this year’s NAMPO was the comb baler. The baler is suitable for baling silage, hay and straw.

The new comb baler is manufactured with high density and performance in mind. The baler is designed to make bales from 80 cm to 165 cm.

At the front of the baler is the famous Easyflow Pickup system. The combless pick-up system is a familiar feature of Krone’s other large balers. Less maintenance and high performance gives the baler the capability it needs.

The baler is driven by a chain on either side of the baler, and it is equipped with central lubrication and a grease bank, which facilitates maintenance.

Behind the pickup is the inner rotor which ensures that the feeding action is sufficient to achieve an excellent bale action. The baler is available with or without a cutting system.

The comb is driven by a chain on either side of the baler. The baler is equipped with central lubrication and a central grease bank, which facilitates maintenance, because, as Marco says, “You want to bale, not do maintenance!”

The net is fed easily and effortlessly at the front of the baler and is easy to handle even for those of smaller stature.

The baler is also available with a larger V190 bale chamber that can make bales from 80 to 190 cm.
